Deposits & Refunds
Written plainly, because a refund policy that needs a lawyer to read is a warning sign. Here is exactly when money comes back, when it does not, and why.
Deposits
A deposit takes your puppy off the market. From the moment it is received we stop showing that puppy, turn away other enquiries about it, and continue raising it for you. That is the reason deposits are non-refundable as a general rule — the cost of holding a puppy falls on us, not on the next family in line.
- Deposits are $200 and are applied in full against the purchase price
- A deposit holds a specific, named puppy — not a place in a queue
- Balance is due before collection or before a delivery departs
When We Refund A Deposit In Full
There are circumstances where the reason for cancelling is ours, not yours, and in each of these you get every penny back:
- The puppy becomes ill or dies before collection
- Our veterinarian identifies a health concern that makes us unwilling to place the puppy
- We cancel or delay beyond a date you have already agreed, and you would rather not wait
- We decide, on reflection, that the match is not right — which we occasionally do
Transferring A Deposit
If your circumstances change — a house move, a job, an illness in the family — talk to us. A deposit can usually be moved to a different puppy in the same litter, or held against our next litter for up to twelve months. This is discretionary, but we have never refused someone who told us honestly and told us early.
The 14-Day Settling Window
If, within fourteen days of collection, the placement is genuinely not working — an allergy nobody anticipated, a household change, or a fit that simply is not there — you may return the puppy to us and receive a refund of the purchase price less the deposit. Delivery fees are not refundable, because that cost has already been incurred by someone else.
- The puppy must be returned in good health, at your expense
- All original paperwork must come back with the dog
- Refunds are processed within 14 days of the puppy's return
- Ring us before you decide. Most first-week problems are normal adjustment and we can usually help
After Fourteen Days
Beyond that window there is no refund, but the right of first refusal in your sales agreement never expires. If at any point in the dog's life you cannot keep it, contact us. We will take the dog back or help rehome it, at any age, for any reason, without judgement. That obligation runs for the whole of the dog's life and it costs you nothing.
Health-Related Refunds
Refunds arising from a confirmed congenital defect are governed by the Health Guarantee rather than this page, and are not limited by the fourteen-day window.
How Refunds Are Paid
Refunds are returned by the same method the payment arrived, within 14 days of the qualifying event. If that method cannot accept a refund, we will arrange a bank transfer and tell you when it has been sent.
Not Sure Yet? Say So.
There is no pressure to place a deposit today. We would far rather you took a week and were certain.
